Petraeus: Iran "behind Green Zone attack".

Mon Mar 24, 2008 at 06:07:14 PM PDT

According to BBC News,

The most senior US general in Iraq has said he has evidence that Iran was behind Sunday's bombardment of Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone in which 15 people were killed.

Gen David Petraeus told the BBC he thought Tehran had trained, equipped and funded insurgents who fired the barrage of mortars and rockets.

Bolding mine.

So, which is it General?  Do you have evidence, or do you just think that Iran trained, equipped and funded the insurgents?

Debunking the Reagan myth...essential.

Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 01:35:22 PM PDT

Republican/conservative idealogy has failed.

It's time the American people adjusted their thinking to that fact.  It's necessary for that fact to become clear so our Country can move forward; Republican/conservative idealogy has failed.

Under Reagan and Bush, we have witnessed the results of the application of conservative principles, and it ain't been pretty.

Under Bush, we had six years of complete Republican/conservatieve leadership in Congress and the Administration.

What has it gotten us?  The highest record deficits since Reagan's highest record deficits.

The biggest record funneling of taxpayer money to corporate profits since Reagan's biggest record funneling of taxpayer money to corporate profits.

And so much more.

We've known this for a long time.  When you enact huge tax cuts for the rich while engorging the government in order to enrich your already rich friends (I know, conservatives claim that they WANT small gov, but look at what we got with Bush, and even the con hero, Reagan, corporate welfare), you ensure massive budget deficits for future generations to pay off.

And this trickle-down theory is absolutely bogus.  They make more money, they keep more money.  Simple.

Soooo funny, TAKE A BREAK!

Mon Feb 04, 2008 at 04:55:29 PM PDT

I know, I know, it's primary season.

It's time for us to tear down everyone who would DARE to vote against our candidate.

We require diary after diary of building up our candidate, tearing down your candidate, insisting that a vote for candidate X would destroy our country in 5; 4; 3; 2; 1, insisting that a vote for candidate Y would create the same results.

But, seriously, who could'nt use a break from these mendacious attacks on our sensabilities?

If you care for a momentary diversion, please follow me under the fold for the funniest video I've seen in a long time.

Republican's idea of bi-partisan compromise.

Mon Jan 28, 2008 at 05:21:10 PM PDT

With all this talk about "bi-partisanship", and "working together in the best interests of the country", I thought it necessary to take another look at what the Republicans consider "coming together".

This music video pretty well sums up the Republicans' ideas of compromise and bi-partisanship;

"Give us exactly what we want or you're being unreasonable.

"If what we want is to destroy you and your ideals, well, give us what you want or you're just unreasonable asshats".  and we'll have our people and the media declare that you're destroying America.  That you're traitors and unpatriotic.

Good music, excellent lyrics.  Video after the jump.  Please join me in welcoming... the Republican Bi-partisans!

Some of you may have already heard of this group.  If so,...why the hell didn't you tell ME about it?

The McDonalds one (at the end) is a bit over the top but, overall, they provide a vualuable look at the absurdities of many large corporations.

My Boss treats me just like the Democratic "Leadership" does.

Sat Dec 15, 2007 at 04:00:51 PM PDT

This is mostly a rant, a warning if your not in the mood for that right now.

Set off by the comments I've seen posted on This post by Rep Louise Slaughter, I got to thinking about how much my boss is treating me just like our Democratic Leadership.

15 Sep DC prep meeting disrupted by Mounted Police

Thu Sep 06, 2007 at 04:28:58 PM PDT

Mounted police charged in to break up an outdoor press conference and demonstration against the Iraq war in Washington on Thursday, arresting three people, organizers and an AFP reporter said.

Sounds like the powers that be are a little squeemish about the 9/15 protest on the same day as the White House Report to Congress.

I'm linking to a Raw Story article which links to AFP, but I've been unable to find the story on AFP (any help appreciated).

Red#state, reveal thyself!

Tue Aug 21, 2007 at 04:39:49 PM PDT

Says I, and with a flourish of the hands (and a quick visit to the "forbidden site"), the truth of the "right" is exposed!

The fact is that for me and the vast majority of people in this country, the war has affected life approximately as much as events on Pluto or mysterious liquid ballet interludes transpiring deep beneath the sea.

"If you damned, dirty hippie Americans were just more interested in yourself and your selfish lives, you wouldn't be giving a shit about this war and would just leave Bush alone to be our big Daddy and take care of us.  We haven't been attacked since 9/11 (all because of Daddy, of course), and don't we get cheap shit from China?  What else do you want?

Poll for Sen Dems voting yes on Bush's FISA bill

Fri Aug 03, 2007 at 08:57:18 PM PDT

Well, it seems that the Senate Democrats have decided to follow Bush's lead in crushing our Constitutional rights, as American Citizens, by allowing for the Bush regime to determine, on their own, who is an enemy of the state and needs to be spied on without FISA oversight.

Let's see, for Bush, anyone who is not a part of his 26% fan club is suspect.

So, the Dems decided they needed to cave to this enormous electoral pressure because:

The Gov. is now privatizing my home.

Sat Jun 09, 2007 at 06:32:06 PM PDT

I said home, not house, on purpose.

I live on a military base in the SE.  My home is in a very quiet, peaceful and lovely little cul-de-sac, which very few people even realize is there.  I love it.

They take my Bachelor Allowance for Housing (BAH) (about $1,300 a month) for a decent roof over my head, free electric, free water and free repairs.  All in all, however, I'm losing approx $200 dollars per month compared to the apartment I was living in previously.

But it's worth it for the neighborhood.

But some of that is about to change.

WTF Dems, now you're going to submarine wind power?

Thu May 31, 2007 at 04:13:22 PM PDT

Over at Libs Earthwatch, we discover that Rep. Nick Rahall (D) WV has introduced a new bill as Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee.

The bill, H.R. 2337, the "Energy Policy Reform and Revitalization Act" contains a provision, Subtitle D, which will effectively collapse the wind power for energy production market.

Code of Ethics for Government Service

Sat May 19, 2007 at 12:17:13 PM PDT

This Code of Ethics is posted on the wall of my office's coffee mess.  I see this on almost a daily basis when I go to get my morning cup of joe.

I wonder if the President and VP have ever been exposed to it.

I wonder if it's posted on Congressional office walls.

Does Gonzo have any idea that it exists?

Granted, it's a list of "shoulds" as opposed to a list of "shalls", but I really think our Politicians should have a little retraining on this issue.

Bush says to please stop picking on him, NOW he's obeying the law!

Fri Jan 26, 2007 at 08:57:37 PM PDT

As we expected, Bush's justice department is now calling for the dismissal of the warrentless wiretapping lawsuit, because now he is "obeying the law".  AG now states that they have decided to follow the law of the land (believe it when I see it), because the FISA court has decided to play ball with the Administration.

Monsters, Inc. activism?

Sun Aug 27, 2006 at 02:34:29 PM PDT

OK, I may not be the first person here to think of this.

I'm generally not.

But, tonight my son was watching "Monsters Inc." from PIXAR Films during dinner and, for the first time in watching it, I began to think that there was an activist under-tone to it.

Free, clean and constant energy?

Mon Aug 21, 2006 at 06:10:12 AM PDT

Is it possible?  Have we found our equivilant of dilithium crystals?  According to a company in Dublin, Ireland it is!

A company called Steorn claims that it has done just that.

I got the gist of this through a link at Huffington Post  And in looking up the background of this came across a, potentially, truly amazing company.
